UNISON SHU branch recently passed a motion supporting Ciaran Wakefield (aged 15), cycling the Edinburgh to London ‘Big Ride’ with hundreds of other cyclists for the children of Palestine. Ciaran is the youngest rider, the oldest being 90.
They will be doing this from the 1st to the 9th August. You can find out more about it at the bigride.
The ride is to raise awareness about the situation in Palestine and raise funds for ‘Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance’ which supports projects to give children in Gaza professional help and support through running clinics, kindergartens, counselling centres, libraries; accessible parks and playgrounds; sports teams, and dance, music and art programs.

All monies will go to the project, as Ciaran is funding his accommodation and the ride costs himself.
