MARCH AND RALLY IN SUPPORT FOR THE NHS ON SUNDAY 29 SEPTEMBER

The Coach to the demonstration will depart from Paternoster Row at 9am (please be there by 8.45am as the coach will be leaving at 9am).  The rally will assemble at 11am in Liverpool Road, Manchester City Centre followed by a march.  The coach will leave Manchester at 4pm (arriving in Sheffield at 6pm at the latest).

There are still a few tickets available at a cost of £5 for UNISON members and non-members.  If you would still like to attend the demonstration but haven’t booked your place yet please email l.m.wakefield@shu.ac.uk by 4pm on Friday 27 September.  Friends and family welcome.

HATS OFF TO THE MATCHWOMEN WITH LOUISE RAW

LaDIYfest Sheffield presents: Hats Off to the Matchwomen with Louise Raw  – The ‘East End Girls’ Who Made History (in association with Off the Shelf Festival)

Join Louise Raw, author of ‘Striking a Light: The Bryant and May Matchwomen and their Place in History’, to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Matchwomen’s victory and hear the true story of the wild and wonderful women who changed the world.

UNISON NATIONAL HE BRANCH SEMINAR

The Higher Education branch seminar is an annual event which looks at issues of relevance to activists in the higher education sector.

There will be workshops and keynote speakers on challenging privatisation/shared services, community organising, the living wage campaign.

The NHS is being deprived of adequate funding and parts are being sold off to private companies.

The Branch has arranged for coach transport to the demonstration.
